It’s not even fair describes this series. When the Blues win, they win big. The Stars win very close games or win in overtime. I’m kind of surprised the series isn’t over with the way the Blues are currently playing and the way the Stars defense has played all year.
Kari Lehtonen is trying. He’s trying so hard. He’s making incredible saves, stopping great shots from the Blues, but his defense is not doing their job. If the area near the net was clean, the Stars would be in this series and it would most likely be 3-2 the other way. They’d be the ones winning big, and the Blues would be winning very close games. But when the goaltender is getting no back up, and when the defense is allowing rebounds from unguarded forwards, the games won’t be close.
Ken Hitchcock was very wrong and I want the Hawks to kill the Blues next season. #9-0. All goals from our defense which is 1000x better than anything the Stars have put forth.
The Stars need to find their offense. They need Hart and Ted Lindsay nominee Jamie Benn to play like he’s worthy of being in the same breath as Patrick Kane and Sidney Crosby. They need their defense to step up, namely Benn’s brother Jordie. They need a healthy Tyler Seguin and they need him soon. This is another series that could end quickly, when it should have been so much closer.
To put it simply, the Blues have stepped up their game this post-season. Their defense, goaltending, and rebound offense is working. And the Stars haven’t stepped up. They are all offense, and defense and goaltending from the Blues have taken it away. I hope I’m proven wrong in Game 6 and 7. I really do.
