Stan Bowman Extension

Stan Bowman, the architect of the Blackhawks’ last two cups and the son of the (currently) most winning coach in NHL history has been signed to a three year extension, the price doesn’t matter. There’s no cap hits on GMs so we could pay him as much as we like – in fact, we’re the biggest franchise in hockey south of the Canadian border and in the top five of most valuable franchises. We probably did pay him what we wanted to.

Here’s the thing. I don’t know why we don’t lock him and Joel Quinneville up for life. We should be able to sign them to long contracts to match the two most important players on the ice, so that we can ride this dynasty as long as it will take us. Quinneville is the second most winning coach in history. While he may not be directly responsible for the first, Bowman has had to overhaul the team several times and yet he has had us come away with three cups. That’s half of the championships in franchise history in the span of six years.

These guys should be Blackhawks for life. I don’t understand why that’s not happening.
