The Morning After… A Rough Start 10/12

13 SOG. That’s the number I’ll remember about last night. Our offense had next to no production, and our next games are against the Predators. So we need to fix that.

Our kids look… on an individual basis. Hartman and Motte are a good fit together. A line with Kruger scored a goal. And a really good one at that. That’s a rare accomplishment. Hartman was heads-up all through last night, and he’s really trying to make me like him. Motte looked good on the goal, got himself back up and into the action, and I look forward to the pair having chemistry this year.

Hinostraza and Schmaltz didn’t really do anything. They didn’t have a ton of ice time though, so it makes sense. Same with Campbell, though that first goal is entirely his fault. Screening the goalie – man you’re an 18-year veteran. You should be smarter than that.

Hjammer missing didn’t really make the biggest impact. Forsling and Kempny both looked strong, and it’s nice knowing that Roszival is the 8th defenseman this year. I’m looking forward to a younger team this strong.

The problem is the offense – and especially KaneGB. That line got zero points, and that’s something that’s gotta change. Oh, wait, I’m sorry. They did get points – Kane scored on his own net. Hopefully, that’s both the most embarrassing and the most heart-crushing moment of the year.

Takeaways:

  1. KaneGB needs to look better, otherwise, the Blender needs to start early this year
  2. Crawford was the best player on the ice. He looks like he’s chasing a Vezina early.
  3. The amount of the penalties on the team killed us. We have to be more disciplined. I’m a Lions fan, so I’m dealing with enough penalties as is.
