The Morning After… Blackhawks vs. Ducks 2/13

Three Stars:

1. Brent Seabrook, 2 G

2. Patrick Kane, 1 A

3. Artemi Panarin

So… the only Hawk who wanted you to have a truly happy Valentine’s Day was Brent Seabrook. Everybody else doesn’t believe in the corporate holiday. The Blackhawks dropped a third straight game and also will be missing Marian Hossa the next few weeks. Let’s get into it.

Seabrook passed his career high in goals with 10 this season, but even that wasn’t enough to get the Hawks past an offensively lacking Anaheim. Something’s gone wrong with this team and Q is not working on fixing it.

I believe that we should now Panik. Get it? Because Panik will now be serving as our first line RW? Yeah. It’s time to legit panic.

We need to get some deadline deals done. If Hossa goes on LTIR we have the money to get whoever we want, as long as we are willing to send picks and prospects. In order to do that though, we should still be planning long term. We need to bring in players we might be able to bring back. People like Lee Stempniak and Keith Yandle who might be willing to take discounts to win late career cups. I now think Lee Stempniak is the biggest must add for the Blackhawks this season, because a 40 point scorer on a different line than Kane and Panarin would be huge.

Shaw and Toews need to come together more than ever. The chemistry they have needs to be displayed no matter who is playing on the right. I believe they have the capability, it’s just about converting.

Also, we blew this game. We didn’t have a great first or second or third or overtime period. We walked away with a point when we shouldn’t have even been in this game. *warning* all caps ahead.

WHERE IS OUR SHOT PRODUCTION? THE DUCKS HAD 40+ SHOTS ON CRAWFORD. WE HAD 20. NO WONDER WE LOST. I HAVE ALWAYS STRESSED THAT SHOT PRODUCTION IS THE MOST CRUCIAL THING FOR THIS TEAM AND NOBODY IS LISTENING. IN THIS GAME THERE IS SUCH A THING AS PUCK LUCK AND IN ORDER TO GET GOALS YOU HAVE TO THROW THE PUCK ON NET. WHY DOES NOBODY UNDERSTAND THIS? WE HAVE GOOD POSSESSION NUMBERS. CAN WE PLEASE GET GOOD SHOT NUMBERS?

Rant over. We lost a must win and one of our best players in one fell swoop.

If we lose to Toronto I’m calling it quits on this season.

Next up: Toronto. See you then. Or not. I doubt the Hawks care.
