The Morning After… Blackhawks v. Avalanche 12/15

Three Stars:

1. Marian “Six Shooter” Hossa

2. Andrew “Effort” Shaw

3. Corey “.926 SV” Crawford

I feel like Kane’s swan song was “Locked Away”. “If I showed you my flaws, if I couldn’t be strong, tell me honestly, would you still love me the same”. It’s over. 26 games, the longest active streak. It was ended the way all Blackhawks streaks are ended, by Seymon Varlamov.

Seriously, Seymon Varlamov is 8-0-0 against this team with two shutouts. The last time we won against Colorado was late 2013. We’re lucky they’re not a playoff team. They’re like our New York Giants, theres no reason for us to lose to them, yet we continue to do so (yes we are the Patriots, look at our teams comparatively. Pretty much the same).

This is the flip side of our Vancouver game. If that was a complete game, this is the opposite. Nobody, apart from Crawford and maybe Shaw, came to play today. Hossa is our first star only because Shaw got zero shots and he had six. Crawford has got to get sick of carrying this team, but the six million helps.

Panarin played like he wanted to keep Kane’s streak alive and that’s it. Panarin needs to go back to scoring goals himself. That’s what we have him for. Teuvo also played very poorly, and the puck kept jumping over his stick. He’s gotta learn control if he’s going to play with Lotto and he’s super nervous. Put him out of his misery, put him with Shaw, bump Bickell to fourth line, we don’t need Mashinter, and he will even out.

You know who I’m going to say goes with Toews and Hossa. That’s right. The kid in the minors. #BringBackDano. Our current LWs are trouble and so why not start developing.

So Scuderi’s a -1 already as a Hawk. Although that’s not really fair, considering everyone was a -1. He had plenty of work, because we had plenty of penalties. With ice time he’ll adjust. Slowly. Just like his skating.

Kane’s gotta be partially relieved. No more errant passes just to make sure he touches the puck. He hasn’t played the same the last six games, and so now he can relax and go back to actually being Kane. Hart level, point leading Kane.

There’s gotta be some hardware and nominations coming the Hawks way. Tonight we didn’t play like it. We’ve gotta figure out Colorado just like the rest of the league. They’re the bottom of the Central. We’re the only team that loses to them this much. We’ve gotta stop that. This is the team to do it.

In summary, left wings need to calm down. Shaw needs to teach everyone how to bring effort night in and night out. Toews needs to teach faceoffs. And Crawford needs to be considered a Vezina frontrunner. Peace.
