Rob Scuderi Deal

Let’s break it down. Daley, who has been playing really well the last few games (yes he didn’t have any goals, but it’s not like he wasn’t productive), was traded for Rob Scuderi, who (trying to be positive) isn’t the worst player on the Penguins roster. Except he kind of was.

The Morning After… Blackhawks vs Canucks

This is what should happen versus the Canucks. This is a complete game of hockey. We have three productive lines, and gone are the days of reliance on the second. Bryan Bickell is actually playing really well now too, so that’s good.

The Morning After… Blackhawks vs. Jets 12/11

Brightside’s Three Stars: 1. Corey “Shutout” Crawford 2. Andrew “I’m Consistent Now” Shaw 3. Teuvo “Taco Bell: Teuvo:: Panera: Panarin” Teravanien Wow. That’s what a complete game looks like. I was right about Trevor Daley. I like Trevor Daley. I don’t like Rundblad. But he’s productive now, which is weird. Bickell has been very good for Andrew Shaw. He makes him look like one of the best wingers on this…

The Morning After… Blackhawks vs. Predators

We’re back. Three lines are productive. It’s an amazing thing to have a talented player like Shaw on the third line. Makes everyone around him better. There’s a reason the shutdown fourth is not as good this year. There’s also a reason Bryan Bickell isn’t at a -2 right now. Shaw-Rasmussen-Bickell can do some damage (literally, Bickell’s hit on Byfuglien.. damn) but Shaw-Rasmussen-Dano could be the best third line in the league. Dano needs to be on this team.

The Morning After… Hawks vs. Senators

Three Stars: 1. Kane –  Patrick Kane 2. G – Artem Anisimov 3. B – Artemi Panarin So this is what this year has been brought to. One line is productive. That’s not great. The goaltending is starting to shrink back as well. Hawks can’t be allowing four goals to teams. They can’t. It’s starting to be hard to be optimistic with this team. With that said, here’s how to…

Overreactions… Jonathon Toews

At Brightside, our biggest goal is to focus on optimism in hockey and the Blackhawks. Sometimes that’s hard to do. So instead of finding pessimism and overreactions, we like to break those down, and calm ourselves by calming the public. This is the first in the series of overreactions and breakdowns. This time we focus on Jonathon Toews. Overreaction: Jonathon Toews should no longer be captain of this hockey team…

The Morning After… Hawks vs Wild

Three stars: 1. Patrick Kane 2. Duncan Keith 3. Artem Anisimov the Brightside: Kane continues to 20. Like I said. Don’t expect a premature ending. It’s fair to say right now the gritty first line experiment has failed. I’m the biggest proponent of Andrew Shaw (extend him already) but he and Tazers game don’t mesh. Hossa doesn’t belong below line 2 either. It’s time we found a consistent lineup. We…

The Morning After… Blackhawks vs. Kings 11/28

Brightside’s Three Stars: 1. Patrick “Showtime” Kane 2. Niklas “Hjammer” Hjalmarrson 3. “The Terminator” Duncan Keith So the Hawks gave that game up. They had the chance to win that game well into the third period. They lost on a mistake from to-that-point Norris caliber Seabrook. Don’t know what happened there, but Seabs will take responsibility for his mistake and will be back to playing really good hockey. Then in…

What If… Bickell Contract

This is the first in a series of musings about what would happen in the NHL should certain things happened or not happened. Our introductory article is about what the Blackhawks would look like had they not signed Bryan Bickell after the 2013 Stanley Cup.
